「佛性」的英譯就是 “Buddha nature”。基於大眾對佛陀的尊敬，稱呼佛陀大多數會採用大寫 B開頭。蓮生活佛盧彥勝大師在他的文集「清風小語」，其中在「人性與佛性」一文中談到：

「讓我們一塊兒來瞭解，什麼是『佛性』呢？

弟子問：『人性又如何轉成佛性？』

我答：『人性原本就是佛性，本無差異，只因被欲望所蒙蔽，只要將污穢的變清淨，人性就是佛性，這轉化的過程，就是修行。』」英譯如下：

The disciple asked, "How does one transform human nature into Buddha nature?"

I replied, "Originally human nature was the same as Buddha nature, there was no difference. Human nature is such because it is clouded by desires. By purifying the defiled, human nature will become Buddha nature. This process of transformation is the act of cultivation."
