One day, the west side of this group of houses caught fire.

The fire was extremely fierce and quickly spread close to Lu Zhao's home. Lu Zhao turned pale, watching his life savings about to go up in smoke, about to turn completely into ash.

He shouted, "Maha Padmakumara, Grandmaster Lu save me!"

A sudden swirling gust of wind came out of nowhere. It was so strong that people had trouble keeping themselves from being blow down. This wind gust blew directly into the fire, stopping its advancement and completely putting it out. Quite incredibly, this gust of wind blew into the fire and blocked the fire's advancement. Then, with another gust, this wind blew out the fire completely.

As soon as the fire was out, the wind ceased.

Lu Zhao said, "How could this not be Grandmaster Lu coming to my rescue!"

I asked, "What practice do you normally cultivate?"

Lu Zhao answered, "After taking refuge, I have only chanted King Gao's Avalokitesvara Sutra and Guru's heart mantra, 'Om Guru Lian Sheng Siddhi Hum.' Normally, I don't have too much time. When I chant Buddha's name, I pray to be reborn into the Pure Land. But I am very pious and focused when I chant Buddha's name, mantra and sutra."

I said, "That's why! You are very pious and focused. There certainly would be a response to your prayer."

Lu Zhao said, "Thanks for Grandmaster Lu's help!"

I answered, "You don't need to thank me. You should thank Buddha Amitabha and Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara (Guan-yin)!"

There is this verse that praises Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara:

Undefiled pristine luminosity

Pacifies disasters of wind and fire

Luminosity from supreme Wisdom is like the Sun shattering all darkness

Universally illuminating the entire world

I said, "In our Tantric Practice, there is love, compassion, virtuous heart, great heart of living kindness. It can remove multitudes of suffering. You should have faith and cultivate these practices."
